Disco Elves

My sister-in-law, Bobbisue, created the video at the bottom of my blog - starring all of my brothers. I hope she didn't mind me copying it. I laugh everytime I watch it. Thanks for making me smile Bobbisue!

Getting STUCK

My brother and his wife just had their little baby boy a month early. At 4 lbs. 13 oz. - 18" long he was healthy except for his lungs not being fully developed. He is improving everyday and hopefully will get out of the NCIU sooner than later. He is very cute and TINY! I had the privledge of visiting him and calming him down to sleep since right before I got there the nurse had just changed his diaper and made him very mad. How lucky am I?

Josie and I have been watching my brothers 3 and 6 year old girls this week. Ok, it has been mostly Josie watching those 2 girls. Josie was kept very busy entertaining, feeding, fixing hair, putting them to bed, and all the other things a mother gets to do. It was a very good experience for her to have 2 little demanding girls pay so much attention to her. I think she quite enjoyed being in charge and really had fun with the girls. And for me, well she was a TOTAL LIFESAVER! It seems like it has been a very long time since I was wiping little bums and faces.

My other brother came Wednesday night to take these girls home with him. He has 4 kids, two of which are girls and pretty much the same age as these two girls. The six year old was very excited to go and play with her cousins - but as I was loading the 3 year old into the car I got quite the suprise. I was talking to her about playing with her cousin and she proceeded to tell me that she was bigger than her and was getting upset that she was going to get STUCK with her. This totally shocked me coming from a 3 year old but responded by telling her that I had been STUCK with her. Her face was priceless! This this set her back for only a second and she replied that I was gonna get STUCK with her again. WOW! I went in the house and laughed. I wonder what I was like at 3.

Looking Back at December

December is always a CRAZY! Not only do we need to get ready for Christmas but we have 2 birthdays and an anniversary to celebrate too. This year for our 20th anniversary we decided instead of going somewhere special we used the money to buy us a new bedroom set. I love it, it is big, black and beautiful! We feel like we are staying in a hotel room every night, but that might be because of the big screen tv Mike thought was part of the set.

This year was a very big year for me, it is the year I turned into an old lady. Yes, I turned 40! I am really hoping that 40 is the new 30 as I have heard so many times. My family all conspired against me and threw me quite the suprise party. I had no clue, which is very unusual for me. It is very hard to put one by me because I can always tell when they are up to something - or was it a sign of my age? Who knows.

It was the 20th of December and Mike and I had just dropped Josie off at a friend's birthday party and I THOUGHT we were on our way to finish up some last minute Christmas shopping, when the call came. It was my oldest brother Bryce desperate for some help with my very old, grandmother suffering from demensia. He claimed she had taken all her clothes off and was sporting around in her 90 year old birthday suite. He asked me to please come since there was no other female around to help with his predicament. Well, I abliged thinking I had seen it before and thought it couldn't hurt to be reminded of what I had to look forward to in about 50 years. When I walked in the door Bryce was very eager to see me and greeted me with a cane, a shawl, glasses and a hat asking me to dress up since Grandma was expecting her sister it might be better to pretend I was her - and with the condition of her mind I could have pulled it off. But of course I refused and walked further into the house and into a room full of family yelling suprise! They pulled it off, I was very suprised and proud of everyone for being able to keep such a big secret! We had a nice breakfast and I was presented with a gift I probably deserved. It was an Dr. D. Crepit Over the Hill Survival Kit containing a Depends, a magnifiying glass, a laxative, some Ensure and some corn removers. It is nice to belong to a family with a great sense of humor!

We had a very nice Christmas - the only thing that could have made it better was to have had Ken with us. Everyone was very happy with what they had recieved and it snowed ALL day!

Grandma and Grandpa Powell came to visit and had a hard time leaving - due to the snow not the company! With all the snow we had to literally push them down the road. Which I think was fun for all my kids but not so much them.

We went to visit Grandmas Clark and Smith later on and had our turn at getting stuck. Or should I say the men got stuck - the girls in our family were too smart for that! Haha. Actually, after dropping the girls off, Mike, Jake and Josh were being good samaritans when they went to help a car that was stuck. After their good work was done, they went for a thrill ride in the snow and ran into a 4 foot snow drift.

2008 was full of many trials for us, but full of many great memories. Bring on 2009!

The Beginning

Well, I think I have finally figured some of this blogging stuff out. I have decided this might be easier than what I am doing right now - which is nothing at the moment, but I was trying to attempt the whole scrapbook thing. It is so hard to drag everything out and them have to put it all away again. The great thing about being a blogger is you have access to all those pictures you take and download to your computer! Instant gratification!

So I guess you could consider this my very first post and hopefully as I go along I will be able to catch on to all the in's and out's and all the cutesy stuff you can add to spice things up. But for now this will probably be just a plain, ordinary, boring blog.

I am hoping that I can get my kids and hubby to add some things of their own - since they are old enough! My oldest is 18 and my youngest 11 - and yes I am facing the hard cruel fact that I am going to start losing some of the birds from our nest and am NOT happy about it at all!

I love my kids and think they are the BEST! I really wish I could freeze them in time for a few more -or maybe A LOT more- years! I still have too many things I want to do with them but have lacked either the time or the money - I don't want to save it all for the grandkids!
